Achievements

ac1The society was recognized by RCI, New Delhi and MPBOU as the study centre (1902) for FC-SEDE  i.e foundation course for education of children with disabilities . The society in collaboration with SSA-SMA has already successfully conducted many batches of the training programme for the regular school teachers .The society has also provided resource persons for Mass teachers training programme and parent training programmes under  SSA-SMA. The programme included orientation regarding various disabilities , their causes, identification, intervention and classroom management. Now, the centre is also one of the IGNOU STUDY CENTRE.

ac2The  agency was selected as the implementing agency for NATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR PREVENTION AND CONTROL OF DEAFNESS (NPPCD) in Manipur for Imphal east and west districts  by  Rehabilitation council of India ( A statutory body under Ministry of Social justice and Empowerment ). NPPCD is a project of  Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ,Govt. of India . The agency successfully imparted training to all the medical doctors, nurses, health workers and grassroot level workers of Imphal East and West regarding control and prevention of deafness despite  facing a lot of problems due to insurgency, law and order situation in the state. The agency had to associate closely with the health department of the state, rural health mission, education department and  women & child department for the same.

ac33rd Dec. 2008  is  a very important date for our agency.  On this day in recognition of  our dedication and hard work the Govt. of India bestowed us with the National Award for best institution working for  empowerment of disabled persons . Our secretary Mr. Tokendra Ricky received the Award on behalf of the agency from Hon’ble Vice President Shri Hamid Ansari  at a function held at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi .
In short  the achievements of the organizations includes

1.    Their initiative ness in starting  novel projects in the state .i.e
a)    Comprehensive Centre for cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities
b)    Early intervention facility for all disabilities
c)    Training programme on large scale for grassroot level workers
d)    Sensory stimulation programme for Autistic children
e)    Disability Law Unit
f)    Abilympic movement in Manipur
g)    National programme for prevention and control of Deafness NPPCD
h)    Integrated education for children with disabilities

2.    Networking with all departments of the state i.e Health and Family welfare, Social Welfare Dept., Education dept, SSA-SMA, Rural Health mission, Women and child dept.,to bring convergence and sensitization of disability issues at state level. Through their efforts the rules and regulations of various department of the state was amended and provisions of PWD Act were incorporated

3.    The agency has supported and provided professional guidance to develop partner organization for disability in areas where there are none, e.g Jiribam , Senapati, Churachandpur, Kakching , Moirang etc

4.    Networking with national agencies such as Aliya Yarjung National Institute  for Hearing Handicap, National Institute for Mentally Handicapped , Composite Regional Centre, Rehabilitation Council of India, Chief  Commissioner Disability Office, National Trust for welfare of persons with autism, cerebral palsy ,mental retardation, and multiple disabilities, NCPEPD, National disability network , Abilympics India to work for the welfare and development of persons with disabilities of Manipur.

5.    Parents and Teachers were given focus in the rehabilitation process for the first time and training programme were provided by the agency to empower them in the identification and intervention process of the disabled persons.

6.    Assessment  and awareness camps in remote areas of the state like Borobekhara, churachandpur, Kwakta, Moirang, Senapati etc.

7.    Sponsoring and felicitating  persons with disabilities in the state for their exceptional skills in various fields

8.    Taking initiative in organizing Disability Day Celebrations in the State in association with Dept. of Social Welfare , SSA-SMA and Dept. of Education.

9.    Successfully organizing Badhte Kadam for two years in association with National Trust of India
